Events – Early Saga

My native country, Colombia, is renowned for its parties. I’m a boy from “The Valley of Upar”(Valledupar). We are valley people, nestled between the mountains of La Sierra Nevada and Sierra de Perija. The mountains create a natural amphitheater where accordion and belting vocals echo. Inheriting this, those close to me will attest to how boisterous I can sometimes be. My nature also stems from growing up in a large family. When fighting for attention, it helps to be noisy.

Starting my entrepreneurial journey, I hosted my first non-profit event at the University of Calgary’s Hunter Hub. While putting together the entertainment, I befriended big players in the music scene who helped kickstart my business. My first music videos, events, festivals, and significant friendships followed. Coming from a musical family, I found the environment to be familiar and welcoming. Still, I struggled with my identity and felt like I didn’t belong. I took on every project for pennies or no compensation at all. But no matter how low I was, the universe cared for me, whether it was crashing on my best friend’s couch or surviving a week-long festival with only a bag of chips.

In 2019, the year this all transpired, I became a full-time videographer and directed a promo shoot for the Tyga concert featuring influencers Ashley Resh and Brittany Michalchuk. I gained backstage access for interviews at the Snoop Dogg Concert and kicked it with Afroman. I experienced my first music festivals, exploring all genres, from EDM to Metal. I threw penthouse parties on 17th Ave downtown, living every day like a movie. I attended numerous gatherings where I met the most genuine crews, like Street Rock, and vibrant personalities, like Thug Shells, all in the same year. It was all possible because I had my little Fuji X-E3 in hand, ready to capture the moment.
